The Work 101 – UPDATE

The Work 101 Is Now Part of the
HSP Inner Freedom Program

Learn more about this program here.

As an HSP, You Like to Go Deep—with Stress Management Too

There are many ways to approach stress management, and each approach has its value. My three pillars of stress management for HSPs are:

  1. Understanding the HSP Trait to Find Self-Compassion
  2. Lifestyle Changes and Skill Development for Greater Balance in Life and to Avoid Overwhelm
  3. Inner Work and Spiritual Development for Deep Healing and True Inner Freedom

In this course, we focus on pillar #3, introducing you to a powerful process of self-inquiry, where you learn to both listen to the stuck part of you that is suffering and invite that same stuck part to gently challenge its own stories and beliefs.

This is powerful because it is both compassionate and rigorous. Your stress will lead you directly to what needs your attention. There, you will discover what is holding you back. And when you question your stressful thoughts about the situation, you can open up to new perspectives that can set you free.

This course is not about fixing or improving your situation; that’s what pillar #2 is about. This course is about radical acceptance, as Byron Katie puts it, “loving what is.” If you can master this one skill, there is no situation that can pull you down.

Become a Master of Stress Reduction

Learn how to meet your stress with radical compassion, question what fuels it, and discover what’s waiting underneath. Through this practice of self-inquiry, you can open into:

  • A quiet mind and a more peaceful body

  • Greater resilience in emotionally charged situations

  • A natural sense of inner freedom and relief

  • More energy and creative flow

  • Courage to face what you once avoided

  • Confidence in your ability to meet life as it is

  • Renewed excitement for what truly matters to you

  • More balance and steadiness, even in uncertain times

  • Deeper self-compassion and acceptance

  • Relationships that soften and deepen over time

  • A heart that opens more fully, day by day

I Understand The Desire To Be Stress-Free

I understand how frustrating it can be to want enlightenment, freedom, an open heart, and not be able to experience it. I’ve wanted that more than anything since I was very young. Moving towards inner freedom is a process, and I’ve learned to be patient with it. Stress does not fall away all at once but gradually and steadily, one layer at a time.

I’ve been on this inner path for a long time. I started meditating daily at the age of six and spent years living in a meditation ashram. Meditation continues to be a central part of my life. Alongside it, I use a simple and reliable practice of self-inquiry—The Work of Byron Katie—questioning the thoughts that create stress in the first place. These two practices together have been like twin engines on the train of my spiritual development. They’ve opened a steady path toward peace, fulfillment, and stability—one that’s still unfolding and deepening with time. I’ve been sharing this approach with others since 2007, and it continues to meet me with fresh insight every day.

A Plan That Works

Coping with stress isn’t enough—and even managing it will only take you so far. To truly be free, you have to meet stress at its root and gently dissolve it there. When that happens, you don’t just feel better—you begin to become immune to the same kinds of situations in the future.

A powerful way to do this is called The Work of Byron Katie, and it will be the entire focus of this course.

You’ll learn how to:

  1. Identify a specific stressful situation

  2. Move through it using a clear, step-by-step process

  3. Avoid getting caught in the same pattern next time

With practice, you’ll find yourself sidestepping more and more of the stress traps that once pulled you in. The process is cumulative—and over time, your confidence in meeting stress grows so deeply that fear of stress itself can begin to fall away. That happened for me around 2013, when I realized that I could meet any stress that showed up simply by doing The Work.

Whether you’re learning this process for the first time or deepening a practice you already know, it has the power to completely shift your relationship with stress.

Don’t Let Stress Control Your Life

If nothing changes, stress doesn’t just stay the same—it tends to grow. Over time, it can quietly wear down your energy, your clarity, and your sense of what’s possible.

When stress goes unaddressed:

  • It builds up, layer by layer

  • Your energy stays low and hard to recover

  • Your ability to think clearly and respond wisely is compromised

  • Emotions become harder to navigate

  • Relationships can become strained or disconnected

  • Dreams are quietly set aside or abandoned

  • Happiness feels out of reach

  • You begin to settle for less than what truly matters to you

Go From Stressed-Out to Feeling Free

Instead of being overwhelmed by stress, you can learn to move through it—with clarity, confidence, and compassion.

If this speaks to you, I invite you to keep reading and discover how the program works.

The Work 101 – OnLIne Course

Here's How It Works

Work 101 is a custom stress reduction program I’ve developed over the past 12 years. It unfolds over 9 weeks, with 45 carefully designed lessons delivered in a unique, password-protected online community.

This space is intentionally structured to support meaningful change—so you can experience real transformation in a relatively short period of time.

Community Support That Makes The Work Come Alive

The True Inner Freedom community will be an essential part of your support system during the course. Inner work is hard to do alone—and far more powerful (and even enjoyable) when done alongside others. That’s why this course is woven directly into the fabric of our community.

Working in a group can accelerate your learning in surprising ways. You’ll see how others do The Work, receive encouragement as you do your own, and begin to feel the deep connection that comes from shared inner discovery.

You’ll be part of a private section of the community forum dedicated specifically to The Work of Byron Katie. Everyone there has either completed Work 101 or is taking it alongside you. We’ll be walking this path with you—as equals.

The kindness, honesty, and respectful support of the group help make The Work come alive. You’ll be able to read daily posts from other members (and from me) as we share our process and discoveries. These moments of vulnerability and insight often spark profound shifts—and help us all see just how similar we truly are.

You are not alone. We go the distance together. Mastering your stress becomes not just possible—but deeply supported—within a community like this.

The group has been dedicated to the ongoing practice of The Work since 2013, and you’re warmly invited to remain with us as an ongoing member after the course ends.

Personalized Support Throughout the Course

Throughout the course, you’ll have access to a dedicated trainer—as well as to me. This structure is designed to help you get what you came for: real change, at your own pace, with steady support.

Doing inner work effectively takes both learning and discipline. Your trainer will read everything you share, offer words of encouragement, and give you thoughtful tips to help you go deeper in your process. They’ll also track your progress on the attendance sheet and help you stay on course.

You can reach out to your trainer with questions at any time—whether you’re stuck, unsure, or just want a bit of reassurance. They’re here to support you as you build confidence in handling stress and begin to experience the freedom that comes with it.

Most course assignments will be posted on the private community forum, so your interactions with your trainer will be primarily in writing. I also participate regularly on the forum, offering comments, encouragement, and answers to questions—so from time to time, you may find a note from me on your work as well.

In addition, I host a 30-minute live Zoom call every Monday, where you’re welcome to bring questions or even be guided through The Work with me.

There’s a lot of genuine enthusiasm in our community for this practice—and we hope that energy will be contagious.

Each Lesson Takes About an Hour

Work 101 includes 45 lessons, each designed to take about an hour to complete at your own pace.

Every lesson includes:

  • A 10-minute video where I introduce the main topic of the lesson. We’ll begin with the fundamentals of The Work and gradually move into more subtle nuances of the process.

  • A 1–4 page PDF with a clear, easy-to-read explanation of the topic. These guides include text and visual infographics to help deepen your understanding and offer real-life examples.

  • A written exercise where you’ll use The Work to explore a stressful situation from your own life. You’ll be guided by one of my custom templates—simply fill it out and post it on the forum to receive supportive feedback.

Your trainer will read your work and offer personalized reflections and encouragement. They’ll also track your progress and stay connected with you throughout the course. Other members of the community may also read and respond to your posts, and you’re warmly encouraged to do the same—whether with your trainer’s work or other members’. This shared space becomes a powerful mirror for everyone involved.

Who Is This Course For?

This course is for you if you’re ready to explore new perspectives and open the door to more freedom in your life. It’s for you if you’re willing to set aside about an hour a day for nine weeks, and if you have an open mind and a willingness to gently question what you believe.

It’s for you if you value a supportive community, enjoy sharing in a safe environment, and appreciate encouragement from others to stay on track. You’ll also be a good fit if you’re considering continuing on with The Work 102 (this course is the prerequisite), or if you’d like to join our ongoing True Inner Freedom Community after the course.

This course is especially suited to you if you enjoy writing and journaling, as most of the exercises are written. And most importantly, it’s for you if you’re living with any kind of stress—big or small—and you’re ready to learn how to work through it to experience peace again.

What You’ll Receive as a Participant:

• Access to The Work Forum
Our 24/7 private community space where you’ll post your written exercises and connect with others on the same path
• A Dedicated Personal Trainer
Someone who reads all your work and offers encouragement, feedback, and steady support throughout the course
• Monday Zoom Calls with Todd
Weekly 30-minute sessions where you can ask questions or do The Work live with Todd and the community
• Daily Drop-In Sessions
Join us on Zoom to do The Work, either in writing (silently) or with a partner (spoken). These sessions offer powerful ongoing support for building a steady practice.

A Gentle Word of Caution

This is a rigorous course. There’s a learning curve—both in using the forum and in learning The Work itself. You’ll be expected to engage fully, completing about one hour of written work per day for 45 lessons over 9 weeks.

To avoid additional charges, the course must be completed within the 9-week timeframe.

That said, if you show up consistently and give this process your care and attention, you may discover a growing sense of inner peace—and a deepening confidence in your ability to meet stress of any kind.

YOUR INVESTMENT

Less than $20 per hour for personal transformation work

The full 9-week course is $740 and includes around 40 hours of immersive, guided practice. That works out to less than $20 per hour for personal transformation work—far less than the cost of private sessions, and designed to be both powerful and accessible.

This investment gives you access to all video lessons, daily exercises, personal trainer feedback, and a vibrant online community. It’s a rare opportunity to build a sustainable practice of inner work that lasts far beyond the course itself.

Frequently Asked Questions

Absolutely. The course is designed to work in any time zone. We regularly welcome participants from North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and beyond.

Each assignment includes:

  • A video to watch
  • A PDF to read
  • A written exercise to post on our password-protected forum

This means you can do your work any time of day or night. Your trainer and fellow participants will respond when they log on, regardless of time zone.

You can also partner with others for optional spoken sessions. Drop-in sessions are available, or you can schedule a time directly with another member. I’ll show you how to use a time zone converter to make this easy.

The Monday Zoom calls with me are completely optional and recordings are always available.

Most participants spend about 1 hour per assignment. A typical breakdown looks like this:

  • 10 min: video

  • 10 min: reading

  • 10 min: technical or prep work

  • 30 min: doing The Work in written form

Of course, it varies. Some people move faster, while others spend up to 2 hours because they go deeply, work methodically, or English isn’t their first language. You are welcome to take it at your own pace—within the 9-week window.

Occasionally, you’ll have the option to do The Work in spoken form with a partner instead of in writing. These sessions take about an hour (30 minutes each) and will replace one of your written exercises. You’ll also post a short (1–2 sentence) synopsis afterward.

The course is available anytime you’re ready to begin.

While it’s possible to learn The Work on your own, group learning accelerates your growth. Seeing how others apply the process expands your perspective, and having a group keeps you inspired and on track.

That said, if you prefer to work solo, we can arrange for you to do The Work in a private workspace with just your trainer and you.

It’s possible, but not recommended. A key forum feature doesn’t work well on touch devices. You can work around it, but using a computer will make things much easier.

This course builds momentum—and losing it can make it harder to return. I recommend waiting to enroll until you can dedicate consistent time to complete it.

Yes! Compared to private sessions with me, this course is very cost-effective. For $740, you receive about 40 hours of learning and support—far more than what three private hours would offer.

If cost is a concern:

  • The Work itself is free. You can begin using my free forms right now.

  • You can enroll in the do-it-yourself version for a lower cost. You’ll get the full training materials but not the personal trainer or community. You can upgrade later by paying the difference.

Note: The DIY version does not meet the prerequisites for being an ongoing community member or The Work 102.

The biggest benefit is accessibility—you can do The Work anytime, 24/7/365.

Also, many participants feel more comfortable opening up in an anonymous online space. We use first names or pseudonyms, and Zoom sessions don’t require exchanging contact details. You choose how much you share.

We all agree to a confidentiality handshake. Respect for privacy is high and the environment is deeply supportive.

Yes. This course is not for everyone.

It may not be for you if:

  • You’re not self-motivated to complete regular assignments

  • Technology is a major barrier for you

  • You strongly prefer in-person experiences

  • You’re uncomfortable sharing your inner work in a community forum

Doing The Work in writing means responding to guided prompts using a structured template. You’ll post your completed form on the private forum, where others (including your trainer) can read and offer support.

Why we write:

  • You can do it anytime

  • It slows you down for deeper insight

  • There’s less pressure to please someone else

  • It’s easier to stay on track

  • Your trainer can offer detailed feedback

Each day, you’ll do a new lesson. Your trainer will read every assignment, leave feedback, and mark your work as complete. You’ll also read your trainer’s own posts as inspiration.

The course is structured to be completed in 9 weeks with one assignment per weekday. This pacing helps you build a daily habit.

If needed, you can purchase additional time at $125 per week after 9 weeks.

Please note: pausing the course is not an option. Be sure your schedule allows for the full commitment before signing up.

There are five assignments per week—roughly one per weekday. That gives you two free days to catch up if needed.

All assignments must be completed within 9 weeks, unless you choose to extend your access.

Yes, scholarships are available in limited numbers. To apply, please contact us.

If you’d like to help others take the course, you can also donate to our scholarship fund.

You’ll have full community access for 9 weeks while you take the course. After that:

  • You can purchase additional weeks for $125/week if needed.

  • Once you complete the course, you may continue as an annual member of the community.

  • Regardless, you’ll still have lifetime access to all course materials (videos, PDFs, and exercises).
